Temporary Assistant Garden Coordinator – John B. Riebli Elementary: Santa Rosa

Responsibilities: The Assistant School Garden Coordinator will be building upon a foundation of five years of work by previous coordinators, and will continue to connect students to healthy food through experiences and lessons in the garden, nutrition education and cooking. Lessons include subject matter in art, science, health, math and language arts.

Garden Coordinators will:
● Lead student lessons in the garden (lessons previously developed)
● Work alongside classroom teacher to engage and maintain a positive class environment
● Maintain garden and garden beds
● Coordinate with and attend monthly PTA general meetings
● Coordinate and communicate with school staff

Garden Description: 12 raised bed tasting garden following an all subjects CA standards curriculum.
Garden Activities: Grow vegetables, Composting bin, Cooking or taste testing in the garden or classroom, Nature
study, Seed saving, Vermicomposting, Science experiments, creative & visual arts

The ideal candidate is passionate about food systems and environmental education, has experience working with kids outdoors, cooking healthy food, and growing food!
Maintain communication and attend monthly garden meetings and PTA meetings to provide a brief update on garden activities

Hours and Compensation: $25/hr for instructional time with students, paid through Riebli PTA funds
