The School Garden Network of Sonoma County (SGN) is offering garden grants of $5,000 each to five schools for the 2016-2017 school year. The primary goal of the grant is to support instructional school gardens in Sonoma County by providing funds for a Garden Education Coordinator, curriculum or garden infrastructure. The grant package includes three Healthy Roots nutrition education and cooking classes for up to ten classes at each school, on-site mentoring, and other benefits. To encourage sustainability, schools must have an existing garden program and demonstrate other sources of funding or in-kind donations. Priority will be given to low-income schools with more than 60% of students participating in the free and reduced lunch program. The application deadline is April 5th. Click here for the application.
