The mission of CSF is to cultivate the wellness of Sonoma County communities by offering land-based education, creating access to organic produce, and regenerating habitat and natural resources.
The major goals that have been prioritized to carry out the mission include: 1) conducting year-round, outdoor, garden-based education to youth and adults, 2) teaching environmental stewardship through sustainable, organic gardening practices and habitat restoration and regeneration, 3) selling affordable, fresh organic produce at a farm stand located in Santa Rosa and donating a portion of the yield to local food banks, 4) teaching garden-enhanced nutrition education courses to youth and adults, 5) providing a community gathering-space for community members to reconnect and spend more time with their family, friends and neighbors.Job Description:
Community Soil Foundation’s Program Director (PD) is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the two co-founders of the organization.
The PD will supervise all staff including the Garden Educator, Garden Coordinator and the Bookkeeper. The PD collaborates with Community Soil Foundation’s staff, local community-based organizations, schools within the Mark West Union School District, existing funders and community members to build involvement in and commitment to the garden and its programs.
The PD is part-time at first and will start at 10 hours a week with a flexible schedule. The 10 hours a week is funded for a full year with hopes of additional fundraising to increase hours per week. Hourly rate starts at $20 per hour.
